MRS. HAUSER DEAD

Mrs. Rebecca Hauser, Widow of Jacob Hauser, One of the Real Pioneers of the County and Daughter of the Founder of the Arney Family in This County, Dead

The funeral of Mrs. Rebecca Hauser, the widow of Jacob Hauser, one of the first white women to settle in Iowa township, and consequently one of the real pioneers of the county, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Albert Fiscus, four miles northwest of Albion, was held at the Bethel Grove church this afternoon at 2 o’clock. Rev. C. H. Morris, of this city, officiated. The service was very largely attended by the many relatives, friends and neighbors. The body was buried in the church yard beside her husband. Mrs. Hauser was one of the original company that came west from Indiana in 1849 and settled in what is commonly known as the Arney-Hauser neighborhood, southwest of Albion. Mrs. Hauser’s father, John Arney, was the founder of the Arney family in this county. His daughter Rebecca, was Mrs. Jacob Hauser, who had married in Warren county, Indiana, where she was born 86 years ago. For sixty-two years, Mrs. Hauser lived on the same farm, and the original log cabin built on it in the pioneer days was standing until recently. Jacob Hauser died five years ago, and since then the farm was purchased by Albert Fiscus, a son-in-law, at whose home Mrs. Hauser has since lived. Mrs. Hauser’s death was due to an injury, caused by a fall several days ago, which resulted in the dislocation of the left hip. She fell when overcome by an attack of dizziness while standing on the porch of the Fiscus home. Mrs. Hauser was the mother of a large family, of whom eight daughters and one son are living. They are Mrs. Sarah Jane Nickle, of Des Moines; Mrs. Media Bueghley and Mrs. Harriet Hulett, of Liscomb; Mrs. Rowena Miller, of this city; and Mrs. Orilla Denbow, Parker, S. D.; and Mrs. Myra Fiscus, Mrs. Eliza Fiscus, Mrs. Martha Hauser, and Mrs. M. A. Hauser, of near Albion. One brother, William Arney, and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Hauser and Mrs. Henry Neff, of near Albion, also survive her.
