ANOTHER EARLY RESIDENT DEAD

Henry M. Arney, Soldier From This County, Dies in Colorado

Word by telegraph, received by Gen. B. A. Beson, adjutant of the soldier’s home, told of the death this morning at the soldier’s home at Monte Vista, Colo., of Henry M. Arney, an early resident of this county, and a cousin of P. F. and C. E. Arney. Mr. Arney was a native of Indiana, and came to this county in 1860 to live with his uncle, the late John Arney, at “Arney’s Bend” near Bethel Grove. On May 28, 1864, young Arney enlisted as fifth corporal in Company G. Forty-fourth Iowa infantry; was promoted to fourth corporal July 1, 1864, and mustered out Sept. 15, 1864, at Davenport. After the war, Mr. Arney returned to this county, lived at Bethel Grove four or five years, and then went to Colorado, where he has since resided. About fifteen years ago he entered the home at Monte Vista. Mr. Arney was a bachelor, and was 73 years old. Mr. Arney’s body will be brought to this city, and burial will take place in the old Arney family lot at Bethel Grove.
