COUNTY PIONEER DEAD

J. C. Weatherly, of Liscomb, Succumbs to Paralysis

J. Calvin Weatherly, aged 75 years, one of the pioneer settlers of the county and for more than half a century a resident and well known farmer of Bangor and Liscomb townships, died at his home in Liscomb early this morning of paralysis. Mr. Weatherly was stricken with paralysis Monday. J. Clavin Weatherly was born in Owen county, Indiana, Jan. 18, 1831. March 17, 1851, he married Miss Mary M. Fulk, who survives him. In 1854 Mr. and Mrs. Weatherly came from Indiana in a covered wagon to Bangor township. For twenty-six years they lived on a farm near Bethel Grove, when they moved north of Bangor, where they lived for twenty-five years. Three years ago they moved to Liscomb, where they have since lived. Mr. Weatherly was a life long member of the Christian church, and he was prominent in all movements for the betterment of the community in which he lived. Besides the wife he is survived by five sons, James W., William, John E., Sherman S., and Byron Weatherly, and two daughters, Isabelle and Mary. One brother, A. J. Weatherly lives at Indianola, and one sister, Mrs. Pauline Waldo, lives at New Providence. The funeral will be held from the Liscomb Christian church Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Rev. Curliss officiating. The burial will be in the Bethel cemetery.
