Mrs. Mollie Long-Van Slyke, wife of George Van Slyke, a farmer residing three and one-half miles southeast of Liscomb, died Wednesday afternoon at 2:10 o’clock as the result of an attack of heart failure, which superseded asthma, with which she had been suffering for some time. Mrs. Van Slyke only arrived home Saturday from Colorado Springs and Pueblo, where she had gone a week before with the expectation of remaining all winter in the hope that the western climate would have a beneficial effect upon her health. The higher altitude only aggravated her condition, however, and it was immediately found advisable to return home. Mrs. Van Slyke had been a resident of Liscomb township for about twenty years. She is survived by her husband and three daughters, Mrs. Harley Fiscus, Mrs. Clarence McKibben and Winnie Van Slyke, all of Liscomb. A sister, Mrs. John Weatherly, lives at Boone, and a brother, Frank Long, is a resident of Manning. The funeral will be held from the Bethel Grove church Saturday morning at 11 o’clock, conducted by Rev. Curliss, of Whitten, assisted by Mr. F. M. Lahmon, of Liscomb.
