Whitacre

Edwin H. Whitacre, son of Dr. E. D. Whitacre, died at 10 o'clock Sunday morning of consumption. Brief funeral services were held at the house at 8:30 this morning. Rev. Dr. F. W. Parsons officiating, after which the remains were taken to Liscomb for interment. The deceased was born at Union, Iowa, Oct. 11, 1873. A studious, happy boy life was spent at Liscomb, where when school days were ended, the ambitious, stirring young man became associated in business with S. A. Emery, now county treasurer. After the family removed to Marshalltown, a few years ago, Edwin entered the employ of L. L. Cady at the Boston store, where he was much esteemed and loved. Only those closely connected with his everyday life can know and tell his true worth. He was of a diligent, quiet disposition, did many unselfish, helpful deeds for others, and possessed a most upright, noble nature. The funeral services were largely attended and many beautiful floral offerings only feebly attested the esteem of a host of friends.
