Dean Yantis, 80

Dean Yantis, 80, 611 E. South St., Marshalltown, died Wednesday, June 8, at Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Grace United Methodist church with Rev. Bonifacio Mequi officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be after 1 p.m. Friday at Estel-Perrin-Avey Funeral Home, with the family present from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Memorials may be directed to Grace United Methodist Church. He was born April 9, 1914, in Adair County, Mo., to Fred E. and Ola Fay Rummerfield Yantis. He received his education in Missouri and the Liscomb area. He married Dorothy Bixby on March 3, 1935, in Liscomb. They farmed in the Liscomb and Ferguson area for many years. He retired and moved to Marshalltown recently. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and was a former 4-H leader in the Ferguson area. Survivors include a daughter, Margaret (Mrs. Ervin) Harre of Marshalltown; six grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; and seven brothers and sisters, Samuel Yantis of Minot, N. D., Leo Yantis of Union, Nellie Moore of Portland, Ore., Melvin Yantis of Marshalltown, Fred Yantis Jr. of Marshalltown, Vernon Yantis of Kirksville, Mo., and Jim Yantis of Clarksville, Ark. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Dorothy; a daughter; two brothers; and three sisters.
