Mrs. L. W. Hauser, 78, Pioneer Resident of Bethel Grove Dies; Services Tuesday

Mrs. L. W. Hauser, 78, prominent Bethel Grove resident, died at 4 a.m. Sunday at Evangelical Deaconess hospital where she was taken July 1, following a stroke at her home. Mrs. Hauser has been an invalid for two years. Mrs. Hauser was born Edith Nyce, one of a family of four children of John and Mary Brown Nyce, in Cedar county Nov. 26, 1871. She came to the Bethel Grove neighborhood with her family in 1885. LIVED ON HOMESTEAD On Dec. 24, 1891, she was married to Mr. Hauser at her home with Rev. J. G. Encel, organizer of the Bethel Grove church, performing the ceremony. They spent their entire married life on the old Hauser homestead where his father built his log cabin in the winter of 1849-50. The farm has been occupied continuously by members of the Hauser family since that time. Surviving are her husband, one sister, Mrs. May McKinnon of Chino, Calif., and several nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Howard and Arthur, are dead. ACTIVE IN CHURCH Mrs. Hauser was very active in the Bethel Grove church, all of its organizations and in community activities. The body is at the Estel funeral home and will be brought to Bethel Grove church at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Services will be at 8 p.m. In charge of Dr. Harold S. Parks, assisted by Rev. George W. Biersborn of Liscomb. A prayer service will be held at the Hauser home at 1:30 p.m.
