John Weatherly Dies Wednesday

Heart Attack Proves Fatal to Long Time Resident of County

John Weatherly, who for many years has been a prominent resident of the Doon territory, died Wednesday afternoon. He suffered a coronary occlusion shortly before noon, and his death occurred about 1 o'clock that afternoon. Mr. Weatherly was 81 years of age, at the time of his demise. "John" Weatherly, as he was familiarly known, was one of the best known men among the early pioneers of Lyon county. That he was popular is attested by the fact that he was repeatedly elected as county recorder, and after retiring from that office, served as a member of the board of supervisors. He was a member of the Christian church in this city, and was also interested in church and Sunday school work in Doon. Last week he was one of the speakers at the celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the Congregational church in Doon. Mr. Weatherly was born in Marshall county, and was one of the earliest settlers in this section. Surviving are his wife, two sons, Royce, at home, and Floyd, at Jamestown, N. D., and two daughters, Mrs. Bruce Hunt, Vashti, N. D., and Mrs. Tim Rohweller, of Doon.
