RAYMOND MAIRS

Raymond Mairs, 82, of 304 Fanton Dr., Gilman, died at his home Friday, Feb. 2.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Gilman Community Church, with the Rev. Richard Gambel officiating. Burial will be in Prairie View Cemetery, the with Pursel-Davis Funeral Home of Marshalltown in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Gilman Community Church or Iowa River Hospice.

The son of Alex and Eleanor Parker Mairs, he was born Feb. 9, 1913, in Newburg. He was raised and educated in the Newburg area and farmed for most of his life in the Gilman area.

He was married to Dorothy Thompson Oct. 6, 1934, in Waterloo.

Mr. Mairs retired in 1976 and moved to Gilman in 1982. He was a member of the Gilman Community Church, serving as a board member. He also served on t he Gilman School Board, the Gilman Telephone Board, the Lions Club and the Marshall County School Board.

Surviving are his wife; four daughters, Jolene McIlrath of Laurel, Mary Conner of Waverly, Ardith Housman of Marengo and Pam Long of Cedar Rapids; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert and Howard; and four sisters, Ethel, Ellen, Mary and Elizabeth.
