Frank Edward "Dick" Lund, 82, of Plano, Texas, formally of Marshalltown, died Friday, Dec. 11, 2009, at the Plano Medical Rehab Center in Plano. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 18 at the Pursel Davis Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of the service Friday at the Funeral Home. Interment will be at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.
Dick was born on Oct. 17, 1927 to Kristen P. and Mabel (Garhart) Lund in Marshalltown. He was raised in the Marshalltown and graduated from Marshalltown High school in 1947. He served in the Merchant Marines at 16 during World War II, and after the war, he served in the National Guard. During his service in the Merchant Marines he received the Atlantic War Zone and Pacific/Asian Medals.
Dick was united in marriage to Dorothy L. Jackson on July 24, 1949 in Marshalltown. They resided in Marshalltown until 1978 then moving to Plano, Texas. He was employed with Witwers Wholesale Grocer for 17 years and most recently with Lennox for 23 years retiring in 1991. He was a Cub Scout Master for Troop 310 at he Grace UB church in the 1960's. He enjoyed his family, chair caning, wood working, rose gardens, and traveling.
Dick will be missed by his wife Dorothy of Plano, Texas, his children, Cindy Braack of Marshalltown, Chris Lund of Marshalltown, Craig Lund of Plano, Texas, Doug Lund of Plano, Texas, and Mark Lund of Des Moines; his grandchildren, Chris (Jacki) Braack, Brian (Jasmine) Braack, Kelly Braack, Page Lund, and Jeff Lund; his great-grandchildren, Ashton Braack, Morgan Braack, and Elijah West.
He will be united in eternal life with his sister, Helen Lund, and brother, Art Lund and his parents.
