Speicher

John S. Speicher, an old resident of Liscomb, and since the 10th inst. a member of the Iowa Soldier's Home, died at the hospital at 11 o'clock Wednesday night of valvular heart trouble. Mr. Speicher was 68 years of age, and had been a resident of Liscomb since 1871, coming to this county from Ohio. He was married to his wife, Mrs. Julia E. Speicher, who survives him, at Liscomb, on May 1, 1873. Mr. Speicher served as a member of Company K, Fifty-seventh Indiana infantry, having enlisted at Goshen, Oct. 16, 1862. He was discharged at Hillsboro, Tenn., July 30, 1863. Aside from his wife the deceased is survived by five children --- Mrs. May Stevens, of Webb City, Mo.; Mrs. Lon Spendlove, of Pittsburg, Kas.; Mrs. Fred Buchanan, living three miles east of Liscomb; and Jesse and Perry Speicher, both of Liscomb. The body was taken to Liscomb for burial, and the funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from Grace Reformed church.
