Jessie L. Tucker, 88, of 111 N. 13th Ave., died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, at the Grandview Heights Care Center. Private family services will be held in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Gregory Ellcey of First Congregational Church officiating. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to noon Friday at Pursel-Davis Funeral Home & Crematory. A memorial fund has been established to the Marshalltown Public Library. She was born on Oct. 19, 1912, on a farm southeast of Traer to Robert and Grace (Powell) Logan. She was raised and educated in Traer. She married Carleton Amos Tucker on May 27, 1937, and made Marshalltown their permanent residence. She was employed by the Marshalltown Public School System and worked at Anson and Williams schools. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Women of the Moose. Survivors include two daughters, Rochelle Smith of Marshalltown and Carla Tucker of Marshalltown; a son Carleton of Ankeny; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1983; her parents; a daughter Jacqueline; two brothers, Dean and Robert; and two grandchildren in infancy.
