JACK GRAVITT DIES AT 71; RITES TUESDAY

Services for John (Jack) Gravitt, Parkside Trailer Court, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pursel-Davis Memorial Chapel with the Rev. L.T. Proctor in charge. Burial will be in the Iowa Soldiers Home Cemetery.

MR. GRAVITT, 71, died at Veterans Hospital in Iowa City Sunday morning where he had been a patient several days.

He was born Feb. 1, 1892, at Lawrenceville, Ill., to Samuel and Marie Harvey Gravitt. He enlisted in the Army in 1916 and was discharged as a sergeant of the service company, 39th Infantry, in 1921.

COMING TO Marshalltown from Davenport in 1950, he was employed at the Iowa Soldiers Home until retiring in 1956.

Surviving are his widow, three children by a previous marriage, Mrs. Hollis Huff, Miami, Okla.; Mrs. Ed Smith, Rock Island, Ill.; and John Gravitt Jr., Davenport; two stepsons, William R. Davis, Ankeny, and Donald F. Davis, Grundy Center; 12 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Melvin Williams and Mrs. Gus Warren, Lawrenceville, Ill,. and a brother, Samuel Gravitt, Chanute, Kan.
