William H. Stansberry, 92 of Marshalltown, passed away Wednesday morning at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center with family by his side. His funeral service is scheduled for 10:00am Saturday, May 31 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Marshalltown with Father Jim Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 6-8:00pm at Estel-Perrin-Avey Funeral Home with a Vigil Service and Rosary at 7:00pm. Memorial contributions may be sent to St. Mary Catholic Church in Marshalltown. For condolences, please visit the funeral home's website. William was born in Marshalltown to Donald and Marcia (Edsall) Stansberry. In 1933 he graduated from Marshalltown High School. William honorably served his country from 1942 to 1945 as an Airplane Mechanic in the South Pacific. In 1948 he married Patricia Ann Kennehan, after 53 years of marriage she passed away in September of 2001. William spent his entire career with Lennox until his retirement in 1980. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, bowling, watching sports and traveling. William especially enjoyed the times he spent at reunions of the 38th Bomber Group and his high school class of 1933 along with meetings of the Lennox Management Club. He was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church and Catholic School. He was also a member of the American Legion. William will be deeply missed by his children: Peggy (Peter) VanLancker of Arkansas, James (Connie) Stansberry, Donald Stansberry, Rosemary Stansberry and Cathy Lamb all of Marshalltown and Ann Kennehan Sayler of Arizona; four grandchildren: Benjamin (Laura) Stansberry, Patrick (Leah) Stansberry, Rebecca and Danielle Lamb; three great-grandchildren: Maggie, Owen and Lauren. In eternal life, William joins his wife, parents and sister, Helen.
