J. H. Petermeier Dies; Longtime Jasper Resident

John H. Petermeier, 83, of 213 N. 15th Ave. W., a longtime resident of Jasper county, died recently, Dec. 1, 1979, at his home.
The Rev. Marvin Potter, pastor of the United Presbyterian Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.
A flag presentation will be given by the Newton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1655.
Memorial contributions to the organizations of the donor's choice will be accepted . Memorials may be left at the funeral home.
Survivors are a son, Clifford of Newton; a daughter, Mrs. Everett (Sharon) Edwards of Newton; seven grandchildren; and five sisters, Mrs Sprague (Nora) Quinlan and Mrs. Otis (Ann) Dodd, both of Marshalltown, Mrs. Elvin (Ida) Carlson and Lela Petermeier, both of Des Moines, and Mrs. Doris Noyer of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Selma, 1974, a son, Kenneth, and a brother, Clarence.
Mr. Petermeier, a World War l veteran, was a member of the United Presbyterian Church and World War l Veterans Barracks 315.
Mr. Petermeier, a retired farmer, worked for the Maytag Co., for 12 years.
The son of Fred and Caroline Petermeier, he was born Jan. 6, 1896 in Baxter.
He married Selma H. Koppin Dec. 22, 1922 in the Zoar Church north of Newton.
