Beverly E. Lemker, 76, of 2845 Marsh Ave., Haverhill, died Wednesday, June 5, at the Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center.
A funeral mass will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Haverhill with Fr. Louis Jaeger celebrating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Estel Perrin Avey Funeral Home from 5 to 9 p.m. the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be a public scripture vigil service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial fund is being established and may be directed to the family.
She was born in Marshalltown on Oct. 20, 1925 the daughter of Lester and Bertha Dannen Pothast.
On June 16, 1952 in Haverhill she was united in marriage to Arnold Lemker, he preceded her in death in August of 1986.
Surviving are three children and one son-in-law; Arnold (Carol) Lemker of West Des Moines; Mary, Mrs. Randy Bryant of Marshalltown; Dennis (Annette) Lemker of Haverhill and Rodney Tysdale of Haverhill. Also surviving are seven grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, one daughter Joann in November 1977 and a grandson, Jared in December 2001, two brothers Kenneth and Miles and a half brother Paul.
Beverly was raised and educated in Van Cleve and graduated from high school there in 1943. She then graduated from the Evangelical Deaconess School of Nursing in 1946. She was a nurse at the hospital until her marriage, she then moved to the farm near Van Cleve. Later she was a nurse for Fisher Controls and then became a Nursing Director of Grandview Heights Nursing Home.
Mrs. Lemker was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the St. Monica's Society.
