Amy Lea Ford entered into rest unexpectedly at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center on Friday May 16, 2008. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 21, 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the funeral home with a memorial service at 6:00 p.m. Interment will be private. For condolences, please visit the funeral home's website. Amy was the daughter of David Ford of Marshalltown, Iowa and Kimberly McLaughlin of Lincoln, Nebraska. She was born in Marshalltown and returned three years ago. She recently completed classes at MCC and started the curriculum at Buena Vista College working to become an elementary teacher. In addition to attending college Amy worked at Maximus Child Support Recovery Agency. Amy touched so many lives with her honesty, her great sense of humor, and her loving heart. Amy’s infectious smile earned her the family nickname “Beamer.” That smile and the heart it revealed will be missed by all who knew her. Her life is celebrated and her early departure mourned by countless friends and loved ones. In lieu of flowers Amy’s family asks that donations be made in Amy's name to the Marshalltown Animal Rescue League. A celebration of Amy’s life will be held at the home of her Aunt Susan and Uncle Gus Williams at 1725 Country Club Lane Wednesday night following the service. Amy had such a gift for friendship and we hope that her friends will join together to remember the joy she brought to so many. Amy was preceded in death by her Step-mother, LaWana Ford, Grandfather “Butch” McLaughlin and her Grandmother Phyllis Ford. She is survived by her Grandmother Margaret Caro, Grandfather Thomas Ford, Aunts Christine Olson, Susan Ford Williams, Christy Caro, Cari Kwitkowski, Cali Nelson, her Uncle Steven McLaughlin and her friends and other family stretching across the country.
