Dr. Lloyd Cutler, 90, longtime Marshalltown chiropractor, died Wednesday evening, May 14th, at his home while in care of his loving family and the Iowa River Hospice. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 17th, at the Central Christian Church with Rev. Gail Thiessen officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens with full military honors by the VFW Harry C. Harter Post #839. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-7:00 p.m. on Friday. Memorials may be directed to the Central Christian Church or the Iowa River Hospice. For condolences, please visit the funeral home's website. Born on October 9th, 1917, in LeGrand, Iowa, he was the son of Willis and Frances (Jubeck) Cutler. He graduated from the LeGrand High School’s Class of 1934 and began working for Lennox Industries. On March 1, 1941, he was united in marriage to Gay Heidlebaugh in Indianola. Soon after marriage, he served our country honorably in the United States Army for 45 months in World War II. He served in the European Theatre, was section leader and Staff Sgt. in the Medical Detachment, 721st field artillery battalion. Lloyd returned stateside and graduated from the University of Iowa and then Lincoln Chiropractic College in Indianapolis as class Valedictorian in 1952. He was a member of the Delta Tau Alpha (honorary Fraternity at Lincoln) and served on the Iowa State Board of Chiropractic Examiners, President of the Iowa Chiropractic Society, Central Christian Church (serving as Supt. Of Sunday School for 5 years, Church Board Chairman, Chairman of Trustees, Elder, Deacon and Youth Sponsor for 5 years), nominated as Fellow in International College of Chiropractic and assisted in getting Chiropractic included in the Federal Medicare System. Dr. Cutler loved sports – he won several state golf championships at the Iowa Chiropractic conferences and was an avid bowler and billiard player. Left to cherish his memory are Gay, his loving wife of 67 years, four daughters: LeAnne (Dan) Schneider of Marshalltown, Terri Cutler of Marshalltown, Tana (John) Aagesen of Ames and Shawna Cutler of Marshalltown, eight grandsons: Jason, Jarod, Jeff, Clint, Tim, John Ryan, Michael and TJ, five great-grandchildren: Dylan, Logan, twins Samantha and Rachel and Jack, several nieces and nephews, cousins and a host of friends. In death he has rejoined his parents and siblings – twin Floyd, Kenneth, Minnie, Clarence, Florence, Fred, Emma, Melinda, Vern, Bert, Sister Mary, Dan and Ray.
