Robert J. Prusha, 89 of Marshalltown entered into eternal life Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at the Iowa Veterans Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 3rd at St. Henry’s Catholic Church. Burial with military honors will be in the Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 – 7:00 PM Friday evening at Pursel-Davis Funeral Home & Crematory with a vigil service to be held at 6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, his family has requested that memorial contributions be directed to St. Henry’s Catholic Church or the Iowa Veterans Home Chapel. Robert was born on January 23, 1919 in Chelsea, IA to Joseph E. and Philomena (Tesar) Prusha. He was educated in Chelsea at St Joseph’s School and at the Chelsea Public School. In 1941 he entered the U.S. Army and served four years after having participated in several missions in the Pacific Theater, including the Marshall Islands, the Mariana’s and the Ryukus Islands as a communication sergeant in L Co. 106th Inf 27th Div. After his honorable discharge, he was united in marriage to Barbara A. Parizek on October 24, 1945 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marshalltown. They made their home in Marshalltown where Bob was employed as a press brake operator at Lennox Industries for 35˝ years before retiring in 1981. He was a charter member of St. Henry’s Catholic Church, the Catholic Order of Foresters and the American Legion.
He will be missed by his wife of more than 62 years, Barbara; his three children: Patty (Denny) Severson of Cedar Rapids, Jan (Doug) Penney of Prior Lake, MN and Mike (Theresa) Prusha of Lakeville, MN; his grandchildren: Stacy (Ben) Doren, Matt Severson, Mindy Bru, Andrew and Emily Prusha; step grandchildren: Brant (Bretta) Penney and Brooke (Ralph) Thoren; 3 great grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren.
In eternal life, Bob joins his parents and his brother, Alan.
His family would like to extend a special thanks to everyone at 3 West in Sheeler Hall at the Iowa Veterans Home for all of their loving care.
