Leo A. Eich, 80 of Marshalltown, entered into eternal life Thursday, May 1, 2008 at Westbrook Acres in Gladbrook. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, May 5, 2008 at St. Mary’s Church in Marshalltown. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 – 7 PM Sunday evening at the Pursel-Davis Funeral Home & Crematory where there will be a Vigil Service held at 7 PM. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Activities Fund at Westbrook Acres. Condolences may also be sent to his family at www.vogelfuneralhomes.com.
One of seven children, Leo was born on June 29, 1927 in Blooming Prairie, MN, to Andrew and Mary (Maitz) Eich. He was educated in the parochial schools in Haverhill and Marshalltown. On November 5, 1951, he was united in marriage to Kathryn Dolores Anderson at St. Mary’s Church. The couple farmed northeast of Toledo before moving to a farm east of Marshalltown in 1956. In addition to farming, Leo was employed as a machinist at Lennox Industries for 22 years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church and the Red Bull Division of the Iowa National Guard.
He will be missed by his wife of more than 56 years, Dolores of Marshalltown; his six daughters: Debra Catron of Ames, Carol (Peter) Brookes of Leicester, England, Linda (Joe) August of Marshalltown, Julie Readout of Osceola, Catherine (Trent) Whalen of Sioux Rapids and Diann (Scot) Daughhetee of Johnston; 2 sisters, Barbara Edsall of Loveland, CO and Sister Rose Mary Eich of Johnston; 12 grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
In eternal life, Leo joins his parents and four brothers: Otto, George, John and Carl.
Leo’s family would like to extend a very special thank you to everyone at Westbrook Acres in Gladbrook, for their loving care given to Leo for the past five years.
