Eloise (Severson) Galloway, 86, of Marshalltown, died Sunday morning, February 24, 2008, at the Villa del Sol. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 29, 2008 at the Liscomb Church of Christ with Pastors Paul McDermott and Helmer Peterson officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 28th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the Liscomb Church of Christ or Iowa River Hospice. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Eloise Severson was born on September 21, 1921, on a farm near Ellsworth, Iowa, to Ed and Allie (Narland) Severson. She attended elementary school in that area at the same schoolhouse attended by her parents and older siblings. In 1939, she graduated from Ellsworth High School and then attended 2 years of teacher’s training at Waldorf Lutheran College at Forest City, Iowa. In the fall of 1941, Eloise began teaching grade school at Liscomb, Iowa where she met her future husband, Wilbur Galloway. They were married June 3, 1944 at Salem Lutheran Church near Severson homestead. The Galloways made their home on a farm west of Liscomb for 38 years where they raised their family. Eloise was a member of the Liscomb Church of Christ where she sang in the choir for over 40 years, was a deaconess, Sunday School teacher, and Ladies’ Aid president. She was a member of the Marshall County Farm Bureau Women’s Club, and a charter member of the Liscomb Hobby Club. She often did substitute teaching. She enjoyed attending her children’s music and sports activities, and taking part in family games. Her children and grandchildren enjoyed homemade cookies and bread which she made frequently. Four children were born to Eloise and Wilbur: Deane (Joan) of Manitowish Waters, Wisconsin; Rosemary (Lynn) Hauser of Marshalltown; Ronald (Nanci) of Union, Iowa; and Richard (Robin) of Clear Lake, Iowa. There are 11 grandchildren: Jeffrey (Stacie), John, Charles, Reid, Ryan, Lara, and Brian Galloway, Anne Galloway (Nick) Ansley, Michael (Carie), Mark (Chris), and David (Maria) Hauser. There are 6 great-grandchildren: Austin, Aaron, Cole, Londyn, and Lillianna Hauser, and Bryant Ansley. Her parents and one brother, Sidney, and four sisters, Ardys, Lucille, Florence and Marjorie preceded her in death.
