Leonard Ray Spencer, 61 of Marshalltown, entered into eternal life Sunday, February 10, 2008 at the University of Iowa Hospital & Clinics in Iowa City. A Memorial service will be held at 1 pm Friday, February 15th at the Second Baptist Church in Marshalltown. There will be no public visitation. A memorial fund is being established. Born on February 2, 1947 in Marshalltown, Leonard was the son of Scott and Daisy (Johnson) Spencer. He grew up in Marshalltown and graduated from the Marshalltown High School in 1965. He honorably served our country in the Army during the Vietnam War. Leonard had worked at several places, most recently at the VA Hospital in Iowa City and at Swift & Company Packing Plant in Marshalltown. He will be fondly remembered for his loving and playful spirit.
He will be missed by his four children: Theron (Angela) Montgomery, Adalene & Cecilia Collins and Crystal Woellwert; his twin brother, Lawrence and his four other brothers: Frank, Marvin, Craig and Julian Spencer; 15 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In eternal life, he joins his parents, three sisters: Daisy Ann & Barbara Jean, in infancy and Pearl Winston; and three brothers: Claude, Calvin & Wayne.
