Milo J. Olson, 95 of Marshalltown entered into eternal life Friday, February 15, 2008 at the Iowa Veterans Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, February 23rd at the First Friends Church, LeGrand. Burial with military honors will be in the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 4 – 6 pm Friday at the Estel-Perrin-Avey Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Milo J. Olson Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home. Milo was born on September 25, 1912 on a farm near Dillon, IA, the son of Thore and Julia (Roinstad) Olson. He grew up in the area of his birth and graduated from the Dunbar High School in 1929. He entered the Army in June 1942 and honorably served our country during WW II until his discharge in December 1945. He was united in marriage to Wanda Damman on December 31, 1942 in Rozwell, NM. The couple lived in California for a short time before moving back to Iowa. They farmed north of LeGrand until they moved to Marshalltown in 1973. Milo remained active in farming by assisting Dorman Brush for several years. They always enjoyed wintering in Tucson, AZ. His health forced him to reside at Grandview Heights and later Southridge Nursing & Rehab before recently moving to the Iowa Veterans Home.
He will be missed by his wife of 66 years, Wanda of Marshalltown; his three children: Alan (Janice) Olson of Lakeville, MN, Veryl (Lynne) Olson of Brooklyn Park, MN and Sharon Anderson of Marshalltown; brother, Arnold Olson of Marshalltown and six grandchildren.
In eternal life, Milo joins his parents, sister, Agnes Wignall and brother, Norman Olson.
