Mrs. August L. Kaufmann Dies At Deaconess

Mrs. August L. Kaufmann, 37, 1314 East Boone Street, died at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday at the Evangelical Deaconess Hospital. She had been in failing health for three months and was a patient of the hospital for eight weeks.

Mrs. Kaufmann was born Zella Luella Johnson in this city Jan. 17, 1909, the daughter of James P and Ida Bell Johnson. On Oct. 6, 1928, she was married to August L. Kaufmann of this city. A member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church she was active in the Redrmmrr Laides Aid Society and the Adult Bible class of that church. her entire lifetime was spent in Marshalltown and she attended public schools here.

Shewas preceded in death by her parents, one son David, who died at birth in 1938, two sisters, Mrs. Rilla Nicolson and one who died in early childhood.

Surviving besides the widower are two sissters and two brothers, Mrs. Stella Jagau, Mrs. Vera Schults, Clarence and Ray Johnson, all of this city; one daughter,Lois Virginia, 16, and two sons, Darol Lee, 11, and Paul Lewis, 9, at home.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Redeemer Luteran churchat 2 p.m. Saturday by Rev. F. H. Iten. Burial will be in the Iowa River Cemetery Friends may call at the Estel funeral home until 11 am Saturday, it was annouced.
