Born on October 27, 1936 near Laurel, Darrell was the son of Pearl & Adah (Bell) Shaver. Being born with cerebral palsy, Darrell’s health prevented him from attending school. He and his parents lived near Laurel before moving to a farm on the edge of Albion where they lovingly cared for him for 35 years. His dog was especially fond of him and was ALWAYS very protective of him. After his parents became older, he resided at the Marshall County Home for 16 years before moving to a care facility in Ames and finally at the State Center Nursing & Rehab Center. Darrell will be remembered as a person who loved his family; and, he always loved listening to music.
He will be missed by his sister, Loretta (Howard) Johnson of Marshalltown; niece, Denise (Mike) Cordes of Lincoln, NE; nephew, Dean (Stephanie) Maytag of Milwaukee, WI; great niece, Allison Maytag, also of Milwaukee, WI; and several cousins.
In eternal life, Darrell joins his parents, grandparents and a brother-in-law, Delmar Maytag.
