*** IN LOVING MEMORY OF ***
CASPER, Wyo. — Charles Francis Bennett, 78, of Casper, Wyo., formerly of Marshalltown, died as his residence in Casper Jan. 20, 2008.

Charles’ wife is very allergic to flowers so the family requests contributions be made to Central Wyoming Hospice, 319 S. Wilson, Casper, WY 82601.Newcomer Family Funeral Home in Casper, Wyo., is in charge of his arrangements.

Charles was born Dec. 8, 1929, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to Glen L and Florence Belle (Fields) Bennett. Charles served his country in the Iowa National Guard with distinction and prided. His pride of serving his country was passed down to his eldest son. They both served our country, not because they had to but because they felt a sense of pride in doing their duty.

Charles was a very forgiving person. He always accepted everyone he met with an open mind and even after this person might hurt him in some way, he’d turn the other cheek and if this person turned out to be unkind toward him he’d still extend his hand in friendship. Some people might see this as a weakness, but Charles felt that it was better to forgive then to let it turn you into a hateful and angry person.

Charles was not a selfish man. There were many times in which he made personal sacrifices for his family in order to see that one of them got something they wanted. This was true when he continued to wear a pair of shoes with a hole in the sole so that his eldest son could have the baseball glove he so desired. Charles didn’t judge his family as children or adults. If they were right or wrong, he stood by their sides to work toward a solution of their problem not because it was a since of obligation but because of his undoubting love for his family. He drew his strength from his family and his family was his heart.

If one could see him through his family’s eyes, they would be proud to have had him as a father and privileged to call him “Dad.” Thanks, “Pop.”

Charles is survived by his wife, Norma Bennett of Casper, Wyo.; his daughters: Karen Ann Fuller of Wheatland, Wyo., Florance Ellen Dezell of Atkins, April Crow of Casper, Wyo. and Kimberly Kay Walter of Woodland Park, Colo.; his sons: Steven Ray Bennett and Charles F. Bennett, both of Marshalltown; two sisters: Louise Rockhold of Waylin, Mo. and Florence Easten of St Anthony; three brothers: Richard Bennett of Marshalltown, Robert Bennett of Ethel, Mo. and John Bennett of Marshalltown; 30 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
