Margaret Ruth Severidt “Ruth”, 87, of State Center, died peacefully on Wednesday, January 23rd, at the State Center Nursing and Rehab Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 28th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home West Marshall Chapel in State Center. She will be laid to rest in the Hillside Cemetery at State Center. Friends may call at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home West Marshall Chapel from 2-4:00 p.m. on Sunday. Memorials may be directed to the Gutekunst Library in State Center. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Ph 641-483-2900. Born on June 4th, 1920, in Marietta, Iowa, she was the daughter of Edmon Clyde “Sparky” and Ada (Price) Porter. She graduated from the Marshalltown High School’s Class of 1938 and in 1942 from the Evangelical Hospital’s School of Nursing. Mrs. Severidt was employed at the Wolfe Eye Clinic in Marshalltown. She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in State Center and enjoyed fishing, gardening, the outdoors and treasured her family. On December 7th, 1942, in Temple, Texas, she was united in marriage to Earl Severidt. Surviving are her children: Betty (Mrs. Edward C.) Kay of Vancouver, WA. And Donna Severidt (Mrs. Ronald Berry) of Green Valley, AZ. Daughter-in-law Beth Severidt, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband Earl and son David “Buster” Severidt.
