June A. Borgerson, 89, of Marshalltown, died Saturday, January 12, 2008, at the Southridge Nursing and Rehab Center while under the care of her loving family and Iowa River Hospice.

There will be no visitation, but a memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Iowa River Hospice. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for June and her family. Ph 641-844-1234.

June was born on December 3, 1918, near Collins, Iowa, to William Vincent Crabb and Anna Barbara Link. She attended and graduated from Collins High School Class of 1936, and she enjoyed playing basketball during her high school years. June moved to Marshalltown shortly after graduation and worked at Ford Hopkins Drug Store and Dumbauld’s Drug Store and Tea Room. On June 25, 1939, she married Orville L. “Borgie” Borgerson. June and Borgie moved to Oakland, California while Borgie was stationed in the Coast Guard during WWII. After the war, they returned to Marshalltown and both lived the rest of their lives there. June enjoyed traveling, cooking, entertaining her friends and family, and life in general. She was an avid bowler for many years and was one of Marshalltown’s first Junior Bowling coaches.

June is survived by her children, daughters Kay (Gordon) Burke of Marshalltown, Terri(Melvin) Hall of Davenport, and son Troy(Deeann) Borgerson of Pleasantville; her 6 grandchildren, Carey, Brian, Julie, Jeff, Mason, and Samantha, and her 6 great-grandchildren, Vincent, Logun, Noel, Branif, Darby, and Brittany.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Borgie, her parents, sisters Ilah Buck, Iona Stratton, Dola Romick, Forrest Halterman, and brother John Crabb.

The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the staff at Southridge Nursing and Rehab Center and the Iowa River Hospice for all of their care while June was in need.
