Fredericka Clough, 81, of Marshalltown, died Dec. 29, 2007, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 5th, 2008, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. She will be laid to rest in the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home from 6-8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 4th. A time of fellowship and refreshments will follow in the funeral home hospitality room. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Born on October 17th, 1926, in St. Wolfgang, Austria, she was the daughter of Hans and Maria (Ruckengale) Kurzböck. She received her education in Austria. On November 11th, 1948, at Linz, Austria, she was united in marriage to Lowell “Red” Clough. She came to the United States leaving her family and spoke very little English. They made their home in Arkansas, Whitten, and Marshalltown for over 50 years. They shared 58 years together when he passed away in January of this year. Friedel Clough was employed at Cooper Manufacturing, Wantiez Preschool, and enjoyed doing home daycare for Brett McLain and Karol Kenner. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and TOPS. She enjoyed playing cards, board games, especially Mensch ärgere Dich nicht, game shows, knitting and crocheting, gardening, watching Big Joe’s Polka Show, and spending time with family, friends, neighbors, and Tracey, Stacey, and Jasmine. She will be greatly missed by many. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Randy (Judy) Clough of Des Moines, grandchildren Tracey and Stacey Clough, brothers-in-law Hans Harfman, William (Carole) Clough, sisters-in-law Mary Voigt and Carol Clough, and many nieces and nephews and her dearest of friends: Frieda Gerke, Elva Weaver and Kenneth Keenan, Marilyn and Ron Crosser, Jim and Pat Hilsabeck and Janet Renoux. In death she has rejoined her loving husband Lowell “Red,” her son, Richard, her parents Hans and Maria Kurzböck, sister Marianne Harfman, sister-in-law Clarice (Norbert) Schoberg, brothers-in-law Charles Clough, Jim Clough, and Wilson Voigt.
