James H. Bowyer, 69, of 308 North 14th Avenue, Marshalltown, died early Monday morning, February 27th, at the MMSC.
Graveside memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Rose Hill memorial Gardens with Pastor Jeffrey R. Frese officiating. There will be no visitation. Full military honors will be conducted by the VFW Harry C. Harter Post #839. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Memorials would be appreciated in his memory and may be directed to the family.
Born on December 27th, 1936, in Lexington, VA, he was the son of Emory Wilson and Carrie Lu (McGuffin) Bowyer. He served his country honorably in the United States Army in the Korean War.
On September 11th, 1959, in Marshalltown, he was united in marriage to Nancy Horell. They made Marshalltown their home where he was employed at Dunham-Bush for 41 years and was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Grace United Methodist Church and the UAW Retirees.
Surviving are three children: Kevin, Mark and Kathy all of Marshalltown, a brother Wilson of Lexington, VA and nieces and nephews.
In death, he has rejoined his parents, his siblings and his wife, Nancy who died May 20th, 2001.
