My family goes back to William Con Harp, born in Tennessee in 1825, and Hannah Maria Brous (also spelled Brouse, b. in Ohio in 1830), married March 11, 1847 in Marion County, Iowa. Their son, Charles W. Harp, married Sylvania Adelia Reed, also born in Ohio, on September 7, 1870 also in Marion County, IA. Sylvania's parents were James C. Reed (may have been killed in the Civil War) and Saphronia. We are looking for Saphronia's maiden name. My grandmother, Hannah Saphrona Harp Carlson, (born in Red Rock Township and died in 1953 in Bruce, South Dakota, where she raised my mother, Margaret Carlson O'Connell) was told she was named for several important family ancestors -which we are now finding - names like Hannah Brous and Saphronia. Can you help us out with Saphronia's maiden name? And, would the graves for these ancestors now be under Red Rock Lake? This is an amazing adventure!
