According to the 1860 Clay Twp, Marion Co, IA census one Benjamin Sherwood was born abt 1782-3 in Maryland and wife Mary born abt 1801 in South Carolina. On the same page of the census there's a listing for Benjamin F. Sherwood, 40, born North Carolina, Sarah, 34, born Ohio, and children Angeline, 13, Daniel, 11, John W., 9, and Elizabeth, 7 (all born IN), Jesse, 5, Nancy, 3, and Sarah J., 1 (all born IA).
