Samuel L. Anderson was born in April 1870 in Iowa to Bradley Anderson, born abt 1822 in North Carolina, and Mary Osleorn, also born in North Carolina. She apparently died soon after Samuel's birth, and Bradley remarried by 1880 a woman named Martha. (See the 1880 Marion County census)

Samuel married Idessie M. Baughman on 23 March 1893 in Marion County. One child died before their son Roy was born in 1897.

Idessie (also called Dessa or Dessie) was born about 1876 to Sylvanus and Eliza Baughman. They were living in Knoxville in 1880.

My sources are the censuses and the Marion County Marriages book.
