One story my late husband used to share. When he was a boy, he lived on a farm near Red Rock and they would go into town occasionally. In the summer the kids were always barefooted and there was an old Indian (we would call him Native American now) who sat outside the doorway of the store. He chewed tobacco and the game was to get past him without him spitting tobacco juice on your bare feet. This would be late 1930s early 1940s. Sorry, don't know anyone named Collins in my database.
