Lister, Robert Bradley "Bob" – 1930-2012

Robert B. Lister, age 81 of Knoxville, died Thursday, August 2, 2012 at the Knoxville Area Community Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at Bybee & Davis Funeral Home in Knoxville with burial following at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will begin after 12 p.m. on Sunday with the family receiving friends from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Robert Bradley "Bob" Lister was born in Newton, Iowa on October 4, 1930. He was the first of five children born to Jonathan William and Lois (Anderson) Lister. He graduated from Newton High School with the class of 1949. On April 13, 1963 he was united in marriage with Betty A. (Jones) Clark. Bob was employed by The Maytag Company for over 40 years, retiring in 1989 as a General Foreman. He was also the founder and owner of Bob's Racing Things of Knoxville. Bob was actively involved in Boy Scouts of America from early childhood through adulthood. He earned his Eagle Scout Badge in 1945 and remained an avid outdoorsman throughout his life.
Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Betty; children, Hubert "Butch" Clark and his wife Dee of Newton; Mike Lister of Des Moines; Sue Lister of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Dan Clark and his wife Pat of Monroe; Randy Clark and his wife Lela of Knoxville; Kevin Lister of Des Moines; and Jodi Lister of Grass Valley, California; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; four siblings, Joan "Jody" Gooch and her husband David of Newton; Jonathan William, Jr. "Bud" and his wife Bette of Ankeny; Margaret Atwood of Kansas City, Missouri; and David and his wife Gwen of Fitchburg, Wisconsin. Preceding him in death were his parents and his son Jeff.
Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Central Iowa or the Alzheimer's Association of Greater Iowa.
