Obituary of James Lockhart Smith

James L. Smith, a former section foreman at Harvey and Fifield, lately engaged at farming on the George W. Carpenter place three-fourths of a mile southwest off Fifield, died very suddenly of acute heart disease about five o’clock Sunday morning, October 30, 1910, aged 51 years, 4 months.
It was not known that he was afflicted with the disease until about an hour before his death, when he was awakened with a very severe pain in the chest.
James Lockhart Smith was born in Illinois, June 30, 1859. He leaves a widow, six children and numerous friends to mourn his untimely death.
The funeral services were held at Harvey Tuesday forenoon, conducted by Rev. Smith. Interment in Eureka cemetery.
