James W. McKissick, son of Josiah McKissick and Sarah Turk, was born in the Lower Grove community April 10, 1874. He passed away at his home in Pella on Sunday, Sept. 29, 1946 at the age of 72 years, 5 months and 19 days. In 1912 he was united in marriage to Emma Beal who passed away in 1914. To this union one daughter was born who died in infancy. He spent his entire life in the community where he was born until he moved to Pella three years ago. He was preceded in death by his wife, daughter, parents, a brother and a sister. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Mary Ann De Witt of Oskaloosa and Mrs. Emma Hite of New Sharon. He also leaves several nieces and nephews besides a host of friends. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, October 2, 1946 at the Harden Funeral Home in New Sharon with the Masonic Order in charge of services.
