John Flahive, 88, of Knoxville died Monday at Collins Memorial Hospital in Knoxville. He was born at Weller on March 19, 1890, the son of Martin and Elizabeth Cullinan Flahive. On July 2, 1935, he married Neelie [sic] Murphy in Knoxville. The couple lived in Weller until 1936 when they moved to a farm near Pleasantville where they made their home until Mrs. Flahive's death on April 27, 1973. Surviving are three brothers, James Flahive of Weller, Martin Flahive of Albia and Dan Flahive of Lovilia. He was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. The funeral was Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony's Church with the Rev. Phillip Ryan officiating. Burial was in Wren Cemetery near Knoxville. The rosary was 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Bybee and Davis Funeral Chapel in Knoxville. (Albia Union - Republican, Albia, Iowa, p. 2, Thursday, August 17, 1978)
