PELLA - David Scott De Haan, 38, of Clive, died Thursday, Aug. 2, in Iowa City as a result of a vehicular accident.

His funeral service was held this morning at First Reformed Church in Pella, Pastor Alan Reed of Oskaloosa Community Church officiating. Burial: Graceland Cemetery, Pella. Memorials: Crossroads of Pella. Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella is in charge of arrangements.

David Scott De Haan was born May 16, 1963, in Pella, to Kenneth Edwin and Delores Lee Hoksbergen De Haan. He attended Webster Grade School in Pella and graduated from Pella Public High School in 1981. During high school he was top performer on the bowling team. He continued working at Lubber's Dairy in Pella following his graduation.

He then moved to Des Moines where he drove delivery trucks for the Sysco Co. and Dixon Meats. His last employment was with Ace Moving & Storage Inc., a subsidiary of Allied Van Lines. He was driving a moving van when he was killed. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, a dirt bike, and fishing.

He is survived by his mother, Delores Bender of Des Moines; his father and stepmother, Kenneth and Darlene De Haan of Pella; his brother, Daniel Jay De Haan of Pella; three stepbrothers: Mike, Steve and Jim Russell; and his paternal grandmother, Elva (brummel) De Haan, also of Pella.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Lee and Mildred Power Hoksbergen; and his paternal grandfather, Jacob De Haan.
