PELLA - Florence G. Tysseling, 92, of Pella, died Sunday, Dec. 23, in the Long Term Care Unit of Pella Regional Health Center.

Her funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Second Reformed Church in Pella, the Rev. Stephen Matthonet-Vander Well officiating. Burial: Oakwood Cemetery in Pella. Memorials: Second Reformed Church or Central College in Pella. Visiting hours are open today at Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella.

Florence Gertrude Boot was born July 24, 1909, northwest of Pella to Jacob C. and Kathleen (Linnie) De Jong Boot. She attended Pella public schools and graduated from Pella High School, then attended Central College in Pella.

On Aug. 15, 1930, she married Anthony Francis Tysseling in Pella. She worked at Rolscreen Co. in Pella at the time of her marriage, and continued as Peter H. Kuyper's private secretary until 1940. She then joined her husband in operating the shoe store and T & D Department Store in Pella. Later she became an administrative assistant for the vice president and treasurer of Central College, and was responsible for writing many grants.

She and her husband, "Tys," lived in Pella and spent winters in Texas for 30 years. Florence moved to the Long Term Care Unit of Pella Regional Health Center in February 1999. She was a member of the Second Reformed Church in Pella, where she had been secretary. She was a member of P.E.O. Chapter BU; T.T.T.; a reading circle; and Pella Historical Society. She and Tys participated in a dinner club and the Dutch Dancers during Tulip Time. She enjoyed playing bridge and golfing.

She is survived by her husband, A.F. Tysseling of Pella; a daughter and son-in-law: Linda and Raymond White of Franklin, Tenn.; a son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Lois Ward Tysseling of Everett, Wash.; six grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters: Edith Boot and Helen Vanden Berg; and a brother, John Gilbert (Gil) Boot.
