KNOXVILLE - A graveside funeral service for Kenneth Crook, 76, of Marshalltown and formerly of Knoxville, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville, Pastor Danny Hodges officiating.
Kenneth Crook died Monday, Oct. 8, at the Iowa Veterans Home. Friends may call at Evans-McCleery Funeral Home after 9 a.m. Thursday, with family present 1-2 p.m. Memorials may be made to the family.
Kenneth was born Jan. 23, 1925, in Harvey to Elmer and Mary Hunt Crook. He graduated from Oskaloosa High School. He moved to Knoxville in 1955. He owned several auto body shops in the area and retired in 1983 as owner of Discount CB.
His joy was to racecars and he did so for over 25 years. He won the first Knoxville Raceway Championship in 1954 and won again in 1955. He won the Knoxville Midwest Super Modified Championship in 1959. He was a charter inductee into the Knoxville Raceway Hall of Fame in 1979.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Richard and Diana and Kenneth C. and Janice, all of Oskaloosa; two brothers and a sister-in-law: Verlin and Dorothy of Waterloo and Dale of Missouri; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Roger; a brother, Elmer Jr.; and a grandson, Roger Dean Crook.
