PELLA - Marie Veenstra, 99, of Pella, died Wednesday, March 13, at Pleasant Care Living Center in Pleasantville.

Her funeral service was March 16 at the First Reformed Church in Pella. Burial: Oakwood Cemetery, Pella. Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Pella was in charge of arrangements. Memorials: First Reformed Church in Pella.

Marie Beyer was born April 18, 1902, in Sully to Henry and Jennie Van Wyngarden Beyer. She lived all her life in the Pella area.

On Nov. 12, 1925, she married Harold Veenstra. She was a homemaker, and a member of the First Reformed Church in Pella and the Pella American Legion Auxiliary. She was known for her homemade, hand-cranked ice cream, and shared apples and pears from their orchard, mulberries from their grove, and homemade apple butter with neighbors and friends.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law: Donna and Joe Tonda of Knoxville, and Carol and Max Rees of Adel; six grandchildren; and eight grand-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold; her brothers and their wives: Carl, Paul, Harvey, Ernest, Harry, Bob and Dan Beyer; and a sister and brother-in-law: Edna and Leland Bachman.
