PELLA - Lorene Van Rees, 81, of Pella, died Sunday, April 28, in the Long Term Care Unit of Pella Regional Health Center.

Her funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at First Christian Reformed Church in Pella, the Rev. Harvey A. Brink officiating. Burial: Sully Cemetery, Sully. Memorials: First Christian Reformed Church or Hospice of Pella.

Lorene Jansen was born Aug. 22, 1920, in Jasper County near Sully to John E. and Artie Elscott Jansen. She attended Sully Grade School and graduated Sully High School in 1937.

On Nov. 22, 1938, she married Leonard Edward Van Rees. They lived in and near Sully, where they farmed for several years. In 1966, they moved to Pella. Lorene was a homemaker. Her life centered around family and church.

They were members of Sully Christian Reformed Church, and joined First Christian Reformed Church in Pella after moving to Pella. Ed died July 27, 1992. Lorene moved to Hilltop Manor South in Pella in 1993, and moved to the Long Term care Unit of Pella Regional Health Center in August 1996. She loved music and played the piano, organ and accordion by ear.

She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law: Donald and Deloris Bokhoven Van Rees of Sully, Clarence and Betty Dawson Van Rees of Belvidere, Ill., Steve and Rhonda Van Gorp Van Rees of Pella, and Randy and Samantha Powers Van Rees of Estes Park, Colo.; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a step-grandchild; a sister, Minerva Bruxvoort of Pella; and a sister-in-law, Jeannette Jansen of Newton.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two brothers: Delmar and Howard Jansen; and a brother-in-law, Clarence Bruxvoort.
