KNOXVILLE - Clydas M. Renaud, 93, of Knoxville and formerly of Pella, died Sunday, May 12, at Griffin Nursing Center in Knoxville, where he had lived the past four years.

His graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Graceland Cemetery in Pella, the Rev. Kenneth A. Dykstra officiating. Memorials: Multiple Sclerosis National Society-Iowa Chapter. Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella is in charge of arrangements.

Clydas Marion Renaud was born Jan. 9, 1909, near Pella to Henry and Gertrude Den Engle Renaud. The family lived on a farm north of Pella. Clydas attended grade school in Pella.

On Jan. 22, 1931, he married Dorothy Ann Grant. Clydas' father died and the family left the farm in 1935, during the Great Depression. They lived in Pella and Clydas began working in the coalmines, then for the City of Pella at the power plant for 45 years. On July 6, 1974, Dorothy died. Clydas continued living in Pella until moving to Griffin Nursing Center in Knoxville in March 1997.

He had been an avid gardener and enjoyed fishing. He was a member of First Reformed Church in Pella.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law: Larry E. and Karyn Renaud of Pella; two grandchildren and spouses: Lynn and Jeffery Holliday and Daniel and Jennifer Doak Webster; five great-grandchildren; two step-grandsons: Cameron and Zach Holliday.

He was preceded in death by his wife; their daughter, Phyllis N. Webster on Jan. 17, 2002; his son-in-law, Darwin D. Webster; a granddaughter, Rhonda Webster in infancy; his parents; and a sister and brother-in-law: Lola Rosa and Charles Focht.
