ANKENY - Glenn L. Ingle, 85, of Ankeny and formerly of Otley, died Tuesday, Aug. 20, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

His funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Second Reformed Church in Pella, the Rev. Norman J. Schouten and the Rev. Steven Mathonnet-Vander Well officiating. Burial: Oakwood Cemetery in Pella, with military honors. Memorials: Second Reformed Church in Pella or the American Lung Association. Visiting hours continue to day at Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella, with family present 7-8:30 p.m. today.

Glenn LeRoy Ingle was born Nov. 3, 1916, near Runnells to Charles and Electa G. Miller Ingle. He graduated from high school in Runnells, then attended Capital City Commercial College in Des Moines. His first job was with Bankers Life in Des Moines. In 1942 he began working for the Iowa State Office of the U.S. Savings Bonds Division.

In January 1944, he was inducted into the United States Army Infantry; he was discharged in May 1946. He then returned to his job with the U.S. Savings Bonds Division.

On July 14, 1963, he married V. Orleath Vogelaar at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Des Moines. They lived in Des Moines, and Glenn retired as the state director in January 1972.

Following retirement, he worked part-time for the Iowa College Foundation for 10 years. In 1984 they moved from Des Moines to Park Hills near Otley, and also spent winters in Cape Coral, Fla. In 1999 they moved to Ankeny while continuing to spend winters in Florida. Glenn was a member of the Second Reformed Church in Pella, and an affiliate member of Faith Presbyterian Church in Cape Coral, Fla. He enjoyed traveling and visiting and entertaining family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Orleath V. Ingle of Ankeny; a daughter and son-in-law: Sonja M. and Larry Maxwell of Bettendorf; four grandchildren: Sheri Squaires of Anaheim Hills, Calif., Brad Maxwell and wife Karen J. of Davenport, Karen K. Merrill and husband Joe of Milwaukee, Wis., and Michelle Wagoner West and husband Ken of Des Moines; five great-grandchildren: Derek and Erin Maxwell, twins Jessica and Benjamin Merrill, and Christina Marie West; three brothers and sisters-in-law: Lester and Margaret Ingle of Iowa Falls, Marvin and Melda Ingle of Vandalia, and Vern and Nora Lee Ingle of Swan; sisters-in-law Thelma (Walter) Ingle of Des Moines, Elsie (Paul) Ingle of Runnells and Eunice (Gilbert) Ingle of Des Moines; and a brother-in-law, Clifford Duckstein of Prairie City.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carole Elaine Squaires Wagoner in 1978; his parents; a brother and two sisters in infancy; brothers Goldie, Walter, Paul, Harold and Gilbert Ingle; and a sister, Hazel Duckstein.
