PELLA - Mildred M. Branderhorst, 96, of Pella, died Wednesday, Sept. 11, at Pella Regional Health Center.

Her funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Oskaloosa, the Rev. Marvin J. Leese officiating. Burial: Bethel Cemetery near Tracy. Memorials: Bethel Bible Hour (formerly Lydia Society) of Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Oskaloosa, or the Gideons' Living Memorial Plan. Visiting hours are open today at Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella, with family present 6:30-8 p.m. today.

Mildred Margaret Harvey was born Oct. 23, 1905, near Harvey to Ernest Wilbur and Mable Claire Zeigler Harvey. She attended Clay Center country grade school. Later the family moved to a farm near Tracy, and she graduated from Tracy High School in 1924. She then attended William Penn College in Oskaloosa.

On Dec. 31, 1927, she married William Maurice Branderhorst in Tracy. They managed the Alloway Dairy Farm in Newton for 10 years, then bought a farm in rural Knoxville, where they lived for 30 years. After selling the farm they bought an acreage near Oskaloosa. Bill died April 2, 1976.

Mildred then lived close to and later with her grandson, Roger Van Der Molen and wife C. Jean (Lovell) and their six children for 20 years. She then lived at Hilltop Manor South in Pella for seven years. At the time of her death she was living with her granddaughter and husband, Sonja and Juan Munoz, and their children.

She loved to cook, bake and entertain. She loved music and played piano and organ. She was a member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Oskaloosa. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school and Bible school, and leading Bible discussions of the Lydia Society.

She is survived by a daughter, Mabel M. Van Der Molen of Pella; her grandson and wife, Roger and Jean Van Der Molen of Oskaloosa; her granddaughter-in-law, Susan D. (Folsom) Van Der Molen of Otley; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Hendreen (Lambert) Branderhorst of Oskaloosa; a brother-in-law, the Rev. Elco (Cora Branderhorst) Oostendorp of Jenison, Mich.; many nieces and nephews, many friends, and her "adopted family," Gerald and Kathryn Kelderman and their children and grandchildren of Boulder, Colo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother and sister-in-law: Marvin Merle and Hazel Miers Harvey; her son-in-law, Louis M. "Lup" Van Der Molen; and two grandsons: Richard Wayne "Rick" Van Der Molen and Robert Lee "Bob" Van Der Molen.
