Funeral services were held February 27 at Evans-McCleery Funeral Home for Inez Larew, who died February 24 at Collins Memorial Hospital. Rev. Gary Armstrong conducted the services and burial was in Eureka Cemetery, Harvey.
John Crawford, soloist, was accompanied by Mrs. Lois Anderson, organist. Casket bearers were Dick Riggen, Pat Riggen, Paul Holdsworth, Bill Holdsworth, William J. Wilson and Ray McCombs.
Birdie Inez Brodess, daughter of Mary Alice McLaughlin Durham and Winfield Scott Brodess was born Nov. 3, 1888 near Harvey. She moved with her parents to a farm one mile east of Harvey when she was a young girl.
On Nov. 3, 1909 she was united in marriage to Everett Earnest Larew at the home of her parents. They continued living in the Eureka neighborhood on the Whaley farm until 1913 when they moved to her present home and resided together for 58 years. Earnest died August 2, 1967. She continued living in her home until she was hospitalized on February 12.
She was a member of the Harvey Methodist Church and the Eureka Cemetery Aid.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a half-brother, Eddie Durham and a grandson, Leroy Bennett, a step great-granddaughter, Lisa Birnbaumer and a step great-grandson, Grant Dunkin.
Survivors include Mrs. Cleo (Maxine) Bennett of Knoxville, Mrs. Edward (Margery) Six and Mrs. Richard (Alice) Dunkin, both of Harvey, nine grandchildren, seven step grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 18 step great-grandchildren and a brother-in-law, John Larew.
