Bert Van Wyk passed away on July 11 in Pella.

Bert Van Wyk, son of Guysbert and Gertrude (Van Arkel) Van Wyk, was born June 24, 1913, in Jasper County, Iowa.

On February 23, 1939, he was united in marriage to Pauline Ver Steegt of Lynnville. To this union two sons were born, Norman W. and Roger B. Van Wyk.

Bert, Pauline, and boys farmed south of Sully until 1967 when they moved to Pella. Bert worked for Ver Meer Manufacturing and Thompson Wholesale until his retirement. He also drove school bus for many years for both Pella Christian Schools and Pella Community Schools.

On August 5, 1973, Pauline passed away suddenly at the age of fifty-nine. On September 28, 1974, Bert married Nellie Van Der Wilt.

Bert is survived by his wife, Nellie, his two sons, Norman W. and his wife, Lois Van Wyk, of Pella and Roger B. and his wife, Susan Van Wyk, of Akron, New York; seven grandchildren, Eighteen great-grandchildren; two step children, Bryce (Barb) Van Der Wilt and Judy (Dwight) Ver Steegt; five step grandchildren; thirteen step great grandchildren; three sisters, Jeannetta (Mrs. Max Antle) of Sully, Mary Grace (Mrs Henry Terlouw) of rural Grinnell and Faye (Mrs. Gerrit Stouwie) of Pella; and one brother, David J. Van Wyk of Sully.

Bert was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Pauline; four brothers, William, Cornelius, Henry G. and Marion Van Wyk; and five sisters, Carrie (Mrs. John Bracksma), Mattie (Mrs. Garrit De Hoedt), Minnie (Mrs Ben Ver Steegt), Gertie (Mrs. Jim Ver Steegt) and Alenis (Mrs. Rex Brush).

Bert was a member of the Covenant Reformed Church in Pella.

Memorial may be given to Covenant Reformed Church Building Fund
