Jeanette Verschuure, a daughter of Peter and Adrajana Kleinendorst Verschuure, was born on October 28, 1915 on a farm five miles east of Tracy. She attended the Tracy Consolidated School, riding the horse drawn bus many miles each day.

Jeanette was baptized by Rev. Reyer Vande Kieft at the Tracy Christian Reformed Church and made profession of her faith later at Prairie City. Jeanette attended Catechism regularly on Saturdays, her father saw to it that they learned their lessons well. On Sunday she went to church with her family, riding on the carriage drawn by horses. The family took their lunch with them and stayed for morning and afternoon services.

Evenings were spent visiting neighbors or playing dominoes with Dad, sisters and brothers. At the age of sixteen years, Jeanette's family moved to a farm near Otley and the following year to Prairie City.

Summers were very busy gardening, canning and sewing. She sometimes worked at homes helping mothers with their busy families. It was at young people's meetings at the Prairie City Christian Reformed Church that she met Simon Antony Van Dusseldorp.

On February 10, 1938 they were united in marriage at her parents' home near Prairie City. To this union three children were born: Phyllis Arlene, Joyce Elaine and Gerald Wayne. The couple continued to farm near Runnells, Iowa and Monroe and then in December of 1952 they moved into Pella.

Jeanette faithfully attended to the needs of her family all these years. She did work part time at In't Veld's Meat Market processing bologna. Simon and Jeanette enjoyed their retirement after 1984 while living at their home on Franklin Street and later at the Pella Manor.

Jeanette's health began to decline due to complications of Parkinson's disease and a debilitating stroke. She needed more advanced care and became a resident at the Long Term Care Unit in 1994. Simon passed away on Wednesday morning, September 13, 2000 while being cared for at the Long Term Care Unit of the Pella Regional Health Center, at the age of 88 years, after 62 years of marriage together. Jeanette continued to make her home there, and on Tuesday morning, July 30, 2002, she was called to her eternal home.

She attained the age of 86 years, 9 months and 2 days.

Jeanette was the consummate caregiver. She was talented at cooking, baking and sewing clothes for her family. At the time of her death she was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Pella, where she had been active in the mission guild. She served her Lord faithfully as a dedicated wife and mother and took great joy in caring for her family. Her grandchildren were especially precious to her as well as her great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her three children and their spouses: Phyllis and Howard Hugen of Boynton Beach, Florida; Joyce De Armond of Boca Raton, Florida; Gerald and Janny Van Dusseldorp of Wheat Ridge, Colorado; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Jeanette is survived by two sisters: Catherine Vander Wiel and Cornelia and her husband Harry Tibboel, all of Pella; two sisters-in-law: Dena (Andrew Verschuure) Van Mersbergen of Oskaloosa and Cornelia (Tunis) Verschuure of Pella, plus many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Simon; her parents; two brothers, Andrew and Tunis Verschuure; three infant brothers and one infant sister.

Arrangements were handled by Van Dyk - Duven Funeral Home in Pella.

Memorials may be made to the "Back To God Hour", a Christian radio ministry broadcast.
