Funeral services for Barbara "Bobbie" Roberts, 79, of Pella, who died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2002 at Griffin Nursing Center in Knoxville, were held Friday, Sept. 13, at 11 a.m., at the First Reformed Church in Pella. Interment was at 2:30 p.m. at the Newton Memorial Park in Newton.

Barbara was born on April 8, 1923 in Indianola, the daughter of Orlin and Josie (Halden) Moon.

On June 16, 1946 she married Riley Roberts at the First United Methodist Church in Des Moines. She lived in Pella for 22 years and had previously lived in Newton and Indianola.

She had worked at the Pella Historical Society and had previously worked at Maytag for 32 years and the Iowa State Medical Library. She was currently retired.

She enjoyed sewing, home restoration, and square dancing. She was a member of the First Reformed Church in Pella and a former member of the Newton Squares and Pella Promenaders square dance groups. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Howard and Ralph Moon; and a sister, Mary Swenson.

She is survived by her husband, Riley Roberts of Pella; a son and his wife, Forrest and Marilyn Roberts of Lake-in-the-Hills, Ill.; a daughter and her husband, Joan D. and John Cisna of Lake Winnebago, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Central Iowa Hospice or First Reformed Church in Pella.

Arrangements were made by Garden Chapel Funeral Home.
